Confidence that is earned
Kids build confidence through small wins: learning a move, earning a stripe, trying again after a tough round, and realizing they can do hard things.

Real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaching for ages 4–12 — confidence, focus, and self-defense skills, all summer long.
"Love this program! Classes are packed with instruction and the facility is clean."— Marci, parent
No extra shopping trips, no hunting for a uniform online, no last-minute gear runs. We hand you the Gi and the bag — you just bring your kid.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gives kids a place to move, listen, solve problems, handle pressure, and make friends — without needing to be the biggest, fastest, or most athletic child in the room.
Kids build confidence through small wins: learning a move, earning a stripe, trying again after a tough round, and realizing they can do hard things.
BJJ teaches control, balance, leverage, and calm decision-making — useful skills for anti-bullying and children’s self-defense.
Classes are structured. Kids listen, drill, partner safely, follow coaching, and learn to respect the room, their partners, and themselves.
Instead of another day glued to tablets, kids get a productive physical outlet away from direct summer sun.
The mat gives kids a healthy social environment where beginners are welcomed and effort matters.
Children who do not love traditional sports often thrive in BJJ because progress is individual, supportive, and skill-based.
Strong Heart Academy separates younger and older kids because it is safer, more focused, and more fun. For this Summer 2026 special, we will place your child into the appropriate class based on age and available spots.

Use these as the current class windows. Final placement depends on your child’s age and the spots still open for the Summer 2026 course.

Strong Heart Academy has trained North Phoenix families since 2009. The coaching team is led by Professor Mike Martin, a 4th Degree Black Belt, with a family-friendly environment built around individual attention.
Parents tell us the same things again and again: the academy is clean, the coaching is structured, the kids feel welcomed, and the program is genuinely built for kids — not adult classes with kids tacked on.
"Signed our 6-year-old up at Strong Heart Academy on a friend's recommendation, and we were impressed from day one. Mike and the coaches were warm, patient, and answered all our questions. In his very first class, our son was learning real BJJ fundamentals. The coaches struck a great balance of playful, supportive, and disciplined. He walked out with a big smile—we're glad we found this place."— Katie Bern, parent
"We've been at Strong Heart Academy for nine months with my daughter, and she's grown so much. As a young girl, in her confidence, her toughness, and work ethic, Mike and the whole team do an incredible job. That goes way beyond jiu-jitsu and just makes them better people, and they have fun while doing it. Highly recommend."— Reed Whiting, parent
"We just enrolled our son here and so far it's been awesome. He is a little younger and smaller than the rest of the kids but he is able to keep up and has so much fun learning. The professors are professional and personable and really pay attention to detail, helping each child with their skills. Highly recommend."— Jessey Bowen, parent
